An interview with Spice Girl Mel B was rudely interrupted by a loud fire alarm on This Morning.
The pop icon was on Friday’s episode of the ITV daytime series to chat about her upcoming travel series with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
But as Mel started to discuss Trailblazers, which sees her road trip around America with Emily Atack and Ruby Wax, chaos ensued when a fire alarm started sounding off.
Hilariously, Mel leaped up off the sofa and quipped that her interview was now over so she could return home.
Meanwhile, Alison and Dermot erupted into a fit of giggling as the loud alarm continued ringing.
The pair quipped that it was the nature of ‘live TV for you’ as a crew member presumably scrambled to turn off the bell.
Reading off the autocue in high spirits, Mel told This Morning viewers it was time to take a break as they tried to find the source of the sound.
Thankfully, when the long-running series, which is also presented by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, resumed, the alarm had been switched off.
Alison joked: ‘I love it when live TV goes wrong’ before clarifying that there wasn’t a fire.
But the alarm wasn’t over ringing just yet, with it ringing off again later in a segment about Black Friday deals.
Alison remarked that they were just going to have to ignore it and ‘soldier on’, but it fortunately stopped after a few seconds.
Elsewhere during the chat, Mel B hinted that there was more news to come from the Spice Girls, after they almost reunited for Geri Horner’s 50th bash.
‘There are some bits and pieces,’ Mel teased, but refused to be drawn on more as she said she’d previously been scolded for being a ‘blabbermouth.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
