Strictly's Amy Dowden finding it 'so hard' to lose hair during cancer treatment

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has issued a heartbreaking update amid her cancer treatment.

The pro dancer, 33, revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

She’s since undergone a single mastectomy and is now having chemotherapy after doctors sadly found more tumours, which has also forced her out of Strictly 2023.

While Amy has been inundated with support from fans and friends alike, she’s been taking to social media to show a brave face and share updates of her treatment.

However, her most recent was a devastating picture of her hair loss.

Holding a clump of her hair, she wrote: ‘Welcome home’ with a series of broken hearts.

She added: ‘So much everyday! So hard! One day at a time!’

This comes after Amy revealed the blood clots she’d discovered while in hospital.

‘And I’m going home to my own bed! Thanks again to the marvellous NHS!’ she shared on Instagram on Wednesday night.

‘Got some blood clots but I’m feeling good other than a sore and swollen arm.

‘Another hurdle along this journey. But again forever grateful to the NHS and my heroes around me.’

She added: ‘Can’t wait to get into my own bed since Monday though 😜💖🎀🙏 #nhs #canceryoung #chemotherapy #myownbed #nhsheroes.’

The update came after Amy shared on Sunday that her second round of chemotherapy treatment had left her ‘hair shedding’, which she said was ‘heart-breaking’.

Posting a video of the hair that had fallen out, she wrote: ‘The reality when I gently comb’, with a broken heart emoji.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC later this year.
