Song for the Mute SS24 "The Dreamers" Wanders Through a Fantastical World

This season seems to be a time for remembrance. Several brands have returned to their roots for Spring/Summer 2024, depicting their heritage through a modern lens. The same goes for Australian label Song for the Mute, as Creative Directors Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty recall SFTM’s origins across their latest co-ed collection.

While showcasing fresh brand identity, Song for the Mute takes a turn onto fantastical avenues and pulls inspiration from dream-like realms that are delicate and romantic. “The Dreamers” collection sees imaginary soldiers carrying ginormous forks wearing the brand’s oversized attire. Solemn eyes peek through essential car coats looking into the outside world, matched with vibrant linear wool trousers and overgrown hairy footwear. Distorted zigzag patterns enhance trippy button-downs, while embellished tees, shredded workwear, and faded floral-painted jackets deliver spiritual motivation.

Song for the Mute leads strong women into unusual landscapes wearing fringed slip dresses and concealed net covers. Similar design motifs are seen across womenswear and menswear, with the former manifesting skin-tight fabrications molded to the body.

SS24 marks Song for the Mute’s third collaboration with adidas Originals, debuting the “SFTM-003” sneaker with resistant nylon uppers, exposed foam tongues, and hiking-inspired clasped lacing. The design arrives in multiple colorways, while the apparel sees paint-splattered knitwear, fuzzy shearling outerwear, pajama-like buttoned bottoms, and crinkled leather co-ords with blue perimeter branding.
