Seasoned creative director Shinsuke Nakada of BEAMS has officially unveiled his new label, aptly named UNLIKELY, with a versatile Fall/Winter 23 collection. Across a range of layer-able outerwear, statement jackets and lots of tweed, Nakada presents his vision of elevated workwear in a striking albeit cohesive collection of cold-weather pieces.

Nakada’s UNLIKELY offers apparel for everyone – whether you define yourself as “a twisted person” or “a detail nerd” or even fall privy to “a collecting habit”, the quippy campaign imagery exemplifies the universality of the menswear collection.
Oversized, statement jackets stand out at the forefront of Nakada’s first UNLIKELY capsule, seeing the designer lean into lengthy down parkas and distinguished wool and tweed coats. The collection is fit for the forthcoming winter months, primarily taking to earthy hues, and offering creative layering options. The Simple Down Vest is ideal for layering, and the collection’s button-down and flannel shirts tap insulating, cozy fabrics.

Pants span a range of loose, baggy fits. Using reworked denim fabrics, Nakada ensures even the sweatpants appear clean and cohesive with the collection’s trousers and Time Travel jeans (yes, that’s what they’re called). Rounding out the clothing selection are elevated raglan hoodies and crewnecks, with accessories including a wool tweed bucket hat, two styles of ties, a dignified handkerchief and a “Hood Anything” – pictured below.
