Salomon is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the wildly popular XT-6 in 2023, and after re-releasing its three best-selling colorways in the “Recut Pack,” the brand is looking all the way back to the model’s origins with a “10 Years” colorway. Dressed in a firey red color scheme, the “10 Years” was crafted by Benjamin Grenet, the XT-6’s original designer, and nods to its days as a highly advanced prototype trail runner, its original purpose before Salomon Sportstyle re-launched it as a lifestyle model in 2018.
Normally, Salomon uses the XT-6’s striking synthetic overlays and mudguard as a chance for color experimentation, but here things are kept tonal with the smooth overlays offering textural contrast with the synthetic mesh base. A similar textural contrast can be seen on the midsole, where a smooth and sleek Agile Chassis System (ACS) works with pebbled ACS Muscle foam for cushioning and support. Other familiar features like Quicklace fit system and Contagrip outsole return as well, all dressed in the same crimson hue as the upper. The only divergence from the color scheme? A larger Salomon Lab tag on the lateral heel, which salutes the shoe’s “prototype” nature and its moniker.
The Salomon XT-6 “10 Years” is limited to 804 individually numbered pairs, and will be accompanied by a special box, drawstring bag and socks. It’s dropping on the Salomon webstore March 28.
