Paul McCarthy Released a New Santa with Butt Plug Sculpture

Looking for an expensive Christmas-inspired sculpture that packs a punch and is highly limited? Look no further. In collaboration with Avant Arte, American contemporary artist Paul McCarthy has released an evocative new sculpture entitled Santa with Butt Plug Bronze 11.4 inches. As the title implies, Father Christmas is cast in bronze and painted with a chromatic red finish holding a nearly foot-long butt plug.

The artwork stems from an earlier 2001 public sculpture commissioned by the city of Rotterdam, where the artist kept the foam replica from the original to create this smaller model. No stranger to controversy, much of McCarthy’s oeuvre is built on humor and provocation as he creates sculptures that often conflate pop cultural symbols in sexually pervasive positions or undertones. Disney characters, former U.S. presidents and the city of Paris have not been spared in his 50-year career.

Santa with Butt Plug Bronze 11.4 inches is an edition of 35 and sizes at 11.4 x 6.3 x 4.3-inches. The sculpture is available to purchase for $27,034 USD and comes signed and numbered by the artist.
