Gentle Monster Presents a Special Collection With Son Heung-Min

Founded in 2011, South Korean sunglasses label Gentle Monster has grown a large following over the years for its innovative modern aesthetic, immaculate store designs resembling art exhibitions, and high-profile collaborations with the likes of Moncler Genius, Jennie from BLACKPINK, and Heron Preston. For its latest special project, the company taps Tottenham Hotspur star and 2021 Golden Boot award winner, Son Heung-min, for a special two-piece sunglasses capsule.

The sunglasses include two black acetate frames featured in green and lilac tints with “GENTLE MONSTER x SON 7” engraved in gold on the right temple. A special pop-up is being held at Gentle Monster’s flagship store in Seoul, where an exclusive incense chamber package in the form of Son’s signature camera pose celebration is being offered. The gesture is meant to symbolize capturing a good memory.

“Son Heung-min, setting new standards in global sports, and Gentle Monster, relentlessly experimenting in the arts, meet for a collaboration that extends the limits of two independent fields,” writes Gentle monster.

“Gentle Monster, an ironic combination, is maybe even a new standard. I can say that Gentle Monster also represents myself, the stadium, and daily life,” says Son on the collaboration.

The Son 7 pop-up is now open at Haus Dosan in Seoul, South Korea which will run from July 5 to August 8. An international release for the frames has yet to be announced.
