Dakota Johnson Reportedly in Talks to Join Sony and Marvel's Universe as Madame Web

Dakota Johnson is reportedly in negotiations to join the Sony-Marvel universe as Madame Web.

According to sources, the film will be helmed by Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson while Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless will write the screenplay. Deadline adds that a female lead has “always been a top priority” for the Sony-Marvel universe, with studio executives taking their time to decide on who will be given the role. Johnson supposedly became the favorite before the holiday season.

Madame Web, whose real name is Cassandra Webb, is a clairvoyant who appears as as an elderly woman with the neuromuscular disease myasthenia gravis and is connected to a life support system similar to a spiderweb. She first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 from November 1980 and is the grandmother of Charlotte Witter, the fourth-generation Spider-Woman.
