EA Sports FC 24 has unveiled its latest updates for the game’s forthcoming edition of Ultimate Team and the game is to include female footballer, Carson Pickett – making her the first player in the gaming franchise’s history with a limb difference.
Pickett, who plays for Racing Louisville FC, was born without her left forearm and hand and is one of the most well-known football players with a limb difference.
Additionally, EA Sports FC 24 recently announced the inclusion of female players in this year’s Ultimate Team, and now Pickett will continue to increase visibility for athletes with limb difficulties and other disabilities on the biggest stage yet.
Over her career so far, Pickett has continued to stand as an inspiration for those with disabilities in and out of sport, using her status as a professional baller to drive awareness. In 2020, Pickett worked with Nike to develop the Phantom GT Academy FlyEase boots — a model designed for players with disabilities, crafted with a wraparound closure and fold-down heel.
This latest update from EA comes following the company’s decision to mix both male and female athletes its top-ranked players in an overhauled rating system that gives players an ability rank out of 100, while also aligning individual players with special talents and playing styles.
In other news, Playstation is to launch a new “Deep Earth” collection.
