Carol McGiffin asks ITV CEO to step down after 'cover-up for Phillip Schofield'

Carol McGiffin has retweeted a message from former ITV employee Dan Wootton which asks for the ITV CEO to step down from their role.

The 63-year-old has recently left Loose Women, and has since gone public with her thoughts on former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield calling him ‘rude.’

Now, she has made her feelings known about the people in charge of the TV channel by sharing a colleague’s tweet.

The tweet by Dan, who worked as a reporter on Lorraine for eight years, alleges that senior executives were part of a ‘cover-up’ for Phil.

It read: ‘Woke ITV CEO Carolyn McCall happily gets rid of Piers Morgan, Jeremy Clarkson, Carol McGiffin and Jeremy Kyle, but allowed her senior executives to cover up for Phillip Schofield for FOUR YEARS.

‘They must all step down now,’ it continued.

Dan, 40, added: ‘This was the reason I left ITV in November 2019.’

‘I am painfully conscious that I have lied to my employers at ITV, to my colleagues and friends, to my agents, to the media and therefore the public and most importantly of all to my family. I am so very, very sorry, as I am for having been unfaithful to my wife.’

Other former ITV employees have since commented on the situation too.

Eamonn Holmes wrote: ‘Schofield has finally been caught out … But he’s not the only guilty party. 4 high members of Itv management knew what sort of man he was …and NEVER once took action to prevent him controlling or taking advantage of his position over young people.’

Dr Ranj Singh added: ‘A storm is coming…’
