Birkenstock Splices Half-and-Half Arizona Sandals for Summer

Birkenstock has always been in the right place at the right time, but the 247-year old brand has never been more “now” than right now. Even as its amalgamated into a corporate conglomerate, the German company’s signature sandals and mules have been the subject of sold-out drops and imaginative collaborations alike.

As the weather warms, there’s no better time to slip into a pair of Birks, as evidenced by a slew of new makeups and colors, including this series of remixed Birkenstock Arizonas. Perhaps the company’s most famous model, the Birkenstock Arizona has flirted with fashion even before Marc Jacobs sent it down the runway in 1993, but its latest iterations are especially sleek and stylish.

These four new in-house models, dubbed “Arizona Split,” don’t reinvent the wheel but they do offer a new look for the classic silhouette. Offered in playful hues like “Sandcastle/Faded Khaki,” “Black/Poppy Red,” “Mineral/Light Rose” and the humble Black/White, this quartet takes some recognizable Arizona colorways and juxtaposes them across the two forefoot straps and buckles. Complete with colored footbeds to match, the Arizona Split offers a subtle swap for the timeless sandal, suitable for longtime Birk aficionados seeking a refresh or newbies stepping into their first pair.

The Arizona Split is available at Birkenstock’s site and stores for $115 USD and $170 USD, depending on whether its made of Birko-Flor (Birkenstock’s proprietary cleanable synthetic) or nubuck leather, respectively.

Most recently, UNITED ARROWS served up a selection of exclusive Birkenstock Arosa sandals.
