Why Bob Saget Is Defending Candace Cameron Bure

Fame comes with many perks, including wealth, opportunities, and often special treatment. However, in the age of social media, many stars have realized there’s a downside to being famous — having to deal with trolls and their hateful/negative comments online. This is something that Full House alum Candace Cameron Bure has learned as she’s come face-to-face with users who have questioned her actions and behaviors.

In January 2021, the actor responded to fans complaining about who she follows on Twitter and Instagram. (Her follow list ranges from Taylor Swift to Melania Trump to Candace Owens.) At the time, Bure defended herself via her Instagram Stories, writing (via Entertainment Tonight), “A follow does not mean I agree with everything they say and do. It just means I follow a broad range of people so that I have perspective. I want to know what’s going on in the world. I want to hear different sides of the argument.”

But when people came for Bure’s character, her former Full House co-star Bob Saget jumped in to defend his on-screen daughter. Keep scrolling to find out what he had to say.

Some people think Candace Cameron Bure is 'fake'

During an episode of Bob Saget’s Here For You podcast on April 12, 2021, Candace Cameron Bure opened up about the negative comments she receives on social media — particularly the ones that are annoyed that she’s seemingly happy all the time. She asked Saget, “For those people that think that because I am a happy, positive person, that I must be a fake person, would you say that that’s true or false?”

Saget responded, “You’re the opposite of fake.” He defended Bure, describing her as “perky,” adding that there is nothing wrong with being perky. The actor thanked him before explaining that she wanted Saget’s opinion because he’s know her since she was nine years old, to which he reiterated: “You’re a positive person. So if you’re perky, it’s because you’re excited, and/or you’ve had a lot of caffeine. That’s what people should know — there’s nothing fake about you.”

No matter how old she gets, it seems Danny Tanner will always have D.J.’s back.
