Spencer Matthews hits back at ‘death’ rumours after ‘overdose’

Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews has hit back at rumours circulating about his death, following reports he was hospitalised following an overdose of coldsore medication.

While on holiday with his wife, Vogue Williams and their three children, Spencer was hospitalised for two days.

Vogue, 37, became poorly first, and shortly after, Spencer came down with the illness too.

Speaking on her podcast with best friend Joanne McNally, My Therapist Ghosted Me, Vogue said that her husband overdosed on cold sore tablets.

She said: "Spenny was hospitalised for two days because he is a little b***h, and he can’t handle it."

She explained: "Well I will tell you what, he overdosed on cold sore tablets.

"I am not joking, I am not joking, I’m not. He overdosed on cold sore tablets and his liver function, because he did it for a full week, taking ten of these things, and he said ‘Oh they’re fine’ and he did it to me when I thought I felt a tingle and he said ‘darling take six of these and you’ll be fine’ and you’re only meant to take two."

However, after Vogue's comments, Spencer took to Instagram to set the record straight and jokingly dispel rumours he had died, as one publication reported.

The 35 year old wrote: "As rock and roll as overdosing on cold sore meds sound, that was not my cause of death …

"I’m afraid it was only a lowly virus that had me admitted to hospital. Sorry to dampen all the media fun.

"Glad to see that jokes on My Therapist Ghosted Me are considered factual and newsworthy though… Your thoughts needn’t be with my family."

The post was soon full of comments of well wishes and jokes about Spencer's "death."

Bear Grylls was one of those followers to comment as he said: "Get well soon legend."

While another joked: "This is Vogue’s doing," followed by several laughing face emojis.

Another posted a number of laughing face emojis before saying: "glad you are feeling better" followed by a red heart emoji.

Spencer and Vogue's family holiday came just after the family celebrated their daughter Gigi's third birthday.

To mark the special occasion, the couple celebrated on social media with a number of sweet photos.

Spencer wrote: "Happy birthday, Gigi bear [bear emoji]."

While Vouge posted: "Happy 3rd birthday to my kind, beautiful, funny and amazing girl Gigibear… a bestie for life [three heart emojis]."
