Rylan Clark-Neal admits he ‘wasn’t good’ but ‘is now’ as he responds to ‘breakdown’ reports

Rylan Clark-Neal has revealed he "wasn't good" but "is now" as he addressed reports he's been urged to take a year off work.

The X Factor star, 32, shared a message on his Instagram story and Twitter page following reports he suffered a breakdown.

Rylan, who reportedly joined Tinder recently after splitting from husband Dan, shared a short statement which read: "Couple of news stories today. Be assured, I'm good."

He added: "I wasn't, but I am Now x". The star's message was met with supportive responses from fans as one said: "glad you're good now rylan" followed by a Purple Heart emoji.

Another added: "Thanks for the reassurance, Rylan. We all love you lots!"

While a third wrote: "Glad to hear your better, sending huge hugs" followed by a hug emoji.

It comes after claims the BBC urged Rylan to "take a year off work" after suffering from a breakdown.

A source told The Sun: "When he returned to work, everyone supported him, but when he broke down, people were concerned he'd come back too fast."

The insider added: "One of the BBC's top brass was at the meeting. They even suggested he take a year's break to focus on himself.

"Rylan's one of the BBC's favourite stars. Ultimately, they want Rylan to feel supported and happy."

The BBC told OK!: "Following some time away from his Radio 2 show, we’re delighted to have Rylan back on air."

Rylan recently took time away from his BBC Radio 2 show earlier this year. It was later reported that he and husband Dan Neal had split.

Strictly's It Takes Two presenter Rylan explained in June: "Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel have to speak out as the way it is being reported is unfair.

"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage."

He added: "I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help.

"I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to say thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time."

He and Dan tied the knot in 2015, and Dan is dad to a 20 year old son called Cameron. The couple met when Dan was a contestant on Big Brother in 2013.
