Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 56, has hit back against Australian comedian and radio host Adam Hills on social media, claiming that he wasn’t “cancelled” as a result of his controversial comments about The Duchess of Sussex. Taking to Twitter, the star blasted The Last Leg host’s suggestion that he lost his GMB presenting job due to “cancelling himself” after storming off air following remarks he made about Meghan Markle after her exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In view of his 7.9 million followers, Piers hit back against the comedian’s claims that he has “made out he’s a victim” following his criticism of Meghan Markle and subsequently leaving GMB.
Piers wrote: “Hi Adam, I know you love to virtue-signal to your woke fans, but I don’t claim to be a victim, nor have I said I was cancelled (how could I be with 7.4 million more followers than you?).
“I just refused to apologise for disbelieving a liar, so lost my job”, he added. (sic)
The Life Stories host revealed that he had decided to step away from his GMB presenting gig earlier this year after branding the Duchess of Sussex a “liar” following her tell-all chat with Oprah which aired in March.
His departure came less than 24 hours after Oprah’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aired in the UK, as the broadcaster faced a backlash for his comments about the Duchess of Sussex.
In response to Meghan’s admission that she felt suicidal while pregnant with son Archie, Piers controversially said: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle (sic).
“I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report”, he added.
Piers’ response to Adam came after the comedian posted a description of Piers Morgan’s 60 Minutes Australia interview, which saw the British broadcaster interviewed by Australian reporter Karl Stefanovic.
The radio star had highlighted a paragraph which described the events that lead up to the former newspaper editor leaving his job at GMB.
It read: “Three months ago Morgan controversially declared the Duchess of Sussex had lied in her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, and in the outcry that followed his comments he lost his high-profile job.”
Disagreeing with the statement, Adam captioned the image: “Piers Morgan walked off his own show.
“While hosting it. He cancelled himself.”

The Last Leg host went on to slam the media star for not being able to take criticism.
He ended the post: “Watch him pretend otherwise and make out he’s the victim when he’s actually an opinion-mercenary who can’t take criticism.”
Following Piers’ response, Adam replied: “You literally told me you stoke outrage for cash”, while posting an image of an article titled “Piers Morgan fights back against cancel culture on this week’s 60 minutes”.
Less than impressed, the outspoken media personality branded the comedian a “hypocrite”, before telling him to remove his head from a certain orifice.
He wrote back: “You literally do the same. Take your head out of your hypocritical sanctimonious a**.”
Backing the ITV star, fans weighed in with their view in the thread below the disagreement.
One wrote: “Is it still classed as controversial to say she lied? All the evidence points to the fact that many of the things she said were untrue.”
Another added: “Criticise Piers all you like, I didn’t like how he went on, but he was more right than wrong on the Meghan incident”
While one social media user penned: “I wasn’t your greatest fan Piers but the weather man throwing you under the bus I was not happy about and you did the best thing walking.”
