Michael J Fox smiles in rare family picture with all four of his adult children

Michael J Fox has shared a rare picture of his family which includes all four of his adult children.

The snap posted on the actor’s Instagram yesterday was accompanied with a loving tribute to the star’s family and his wife Tracy Pollan.

Michael, 60, and Tracy, 61, have been married for more than 30 years and first met while starring in the 1980s NBC sitcom Family Ties.

Michael won three Emmy Awards for his part in the sitcom playing Alex P. Keaton.

The Instagram post read: “Our children are beautiful, sensitive, intelligent, empathetic, independent, compassionate, adventurous, lovely people.

“That’s your fault. We all love you so much. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Mother’s Day was celebrated in the US on Sunday 8th May.

The couple welcomed their eldest son, Sam, in 1989 just one year after getting married.

In 1995 Michael and Tracy had twin daughters Aquinnah and Schuyler followed by the birth of their youngest child Esmé in 2001.

Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 aged 29 and decided to share the news publicly seven years later.

Since then, he has committed himself to increasing awareness and funding for research into the disease which can involve symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, and slowness of movement among others.

Speaking about his diagnosis toThe Guardian, Michael said: “It’s like my walking. I used to walk fast, but every step is now like a frigging math problem, so I take it slow.

“And with acting, I used to race to the punchline. But I started to really pay attention because I couldn’t just skate over any moment.”

He founded the Michael J Fox Foundation in 2000 which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s and helping those living with the disease.

Michael is probably best known for his role in sci-fi classic Back to the Future where he plays Marty McFly who travels back in time with Doc Brown.

He appeared in CBS legal and political drama The Good Wife in the role of Louis Canning, an attorney who uses his disability to win cases.

Tracy was born in 1960 in Long Island, New York and is known for her roles in TV series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and crime drama film A Stranger Among Us.
