Former The One Show presenter Matt Baker, 43, took to Instagram to give an update to his fans. During the live feed, he expressed his sorrow at exiting the BBC teatime favourite.

Don’t get me wrong, life is good. But that buzz I used to get at 7 0’clock… for a long time after I would get a burst of adrenaline at the same time.

The BBC host shared his thoughts with his 268,000 followers last month, explaining what he missed about the show.

Matt captioned the video “a little morning Insta Live”.

He expressed his feelings about The One Show after mentioning that he spoke to journalist Jane Oddy about his life.

He said: “I talked to Jane about not doing The One Show anymore.

“Don’t get me wrong, life is good. But that buzz I used to get at 7 0’clock… for a long time after I would get a burst of adrenaline at the same time.

“I realised that was when I was at my most productive.”

Fans were eager to express their support for Matt’s decision and empathise with him.

Many commented on the background views of the quiet farm life he now leads.

brummie_sami commented: “Aww you make me smile so much. Love seeing the animals on the farm. Have a good day.”

While chrispre17 said: “That started my day off well.”

Some fans also congratulated Matt on the success and launch of his new book, A Year on the Farm: How the Countryside Made Me.

Clarelea4 said: “Loving the book, which arrived yesterday. Several chapters devoured already.

While cinijmc wrote: “Morning Matt, looks lovely there, looking forward to seeing the book.”

Matt recently spoke to Reverend Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammed on BBC Radio Two to discuss his show Our Farm in the Dales.

Matt spoke about how he had re-imagined the farm for his parents safety in the future.

He explained: “Well, for those people that have been watching Our Farm in the Dales [they] will understand, my mum had this nasty accident, she smashed her leg preparing for shearing.

“We headed straight back up there – the timing was unbelievable, it was the first lockdown.

“[And] we always knew we’d have to re-version the farm as mum and dad started to get older, and that’s what happened when we went up there.

“We were just doing all this work to change it over and make it more future proof for the family going forward, and we ended up making a whole TV show about it,” he revealed.

“Now we’re in the second series of that, that’s already going out at the moment the third episode of the second series goes out Monday night.

“People have really connected with that family story; when the tables turn, and you start looking after your parents in the same way they looked after you.”

Matt then went on to speak about how country life, though often idyllic, is a lot tougher than it seems.
