Love Island star Zara’s brother reveals truth about secret friendship with Olivia outside villa

Ever since the strutted into the Love Island villa last week, jaw-dropping newbie Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown and co-star Olivia Hawkins have consistently been at logger-heads.

After 'stealing' bombshell Tom Clare from Olivia, 27, upon her dramatic arrival, Zara, 35, has seemed uninterested in building a friendship with the ring girl and actress.

But after a music video emerged that proved the pair already met each other long before entering the South African villa, Zara's brother has now shed some light on their secret friendship.

Her brother Alex last night appeared on Sunday evening’s instalment of the Love Island spin-off Aftersun, catching up with the new ITV2 dating show host Maya Jama.

"So, they have been on set together for a music video," Alex explained. "But as people do on social media they exchange messages, big each other up, that sort of thing.

"But no, they didn’t actually know each other beforehand. Everything that has unfolded has been on TV."

Alex's claims come after former contestant David Salako revealed Zara and Olivia's friendship "was discussed" amongst the Islanders.

Speaking to fans on TikTok last week, David insisted that Zara "told everyone" she knew her co-star prior to entering the villa, with Olivia allegedly confirming that she and the model were friendly back in the UK.

Zara and Olivia appeared in a music video for Dapz's track Take You Away – which came out in 2019.

The two dancers can both be seen enjoying the Hollywood Hills pool party in various shots, with one shot showing Olivia in a red bikini and a white shirt as she tosses her long, dark hair.

Eagle-eyed Love Island fans previously noted that Zara and Olivia once seemed to be friends as they commented on each other's pictures on Instagram in 2020, with Zara even referring to Olivia as her "babes".

But since the new series begun, the pair haven't yet been able to see eye-to-eye.

The two beauties clashed earlier in the series after Zara accused ring girl and actress Olivia of being “two-faced” during a game.

As part of a game, Zara, 25, was dared to kiss both the cheeks of the Islander she thinks is the most two-faced as she chose Olivia, 27.

And viewers had a dramatic start to last night's episode, which saw a game of Truth or Dare turn into a break up for Zara and Tom.

Tom and Zara went away for a chat which saw was the end of their relationship.

"It just shouldn't be like that," Zara told Tom after they discussed their relationship.

Tom replied: "We'll both never change for anyone, that's just how we are. We're mature enough to say 'look, we've had a solid go and enough is enough.'"

Zara continued: "I think we can both admit there has been a lot of drama and headaches and confusion, and for it to happen this early on, is too much."

Tom agreed and said that what is supposed to be the "honeymoon phase" has not been as happy as they wanted it to be.

Agreeing they're on the same page, Tom said: "I genuinely do think you're a top girl and I feel like your intentions are top. I'll always be here for you."

They then hugged it out before going to tell the others the news about their break up.
