Charlotte Crosby ‘having tough time’ as she steps back from spotlight after family death

New mum Charlotte Crosby is “devastated” after losing her beloved nana just weeks after welcoming her daughter Alba Jean, and is taking some time out to be with her family.

“Charlotte was so close to her nana and named her little girl after her,” a source close to the 32-year-old has told us.

“She’s grieving and having time away from social media to be with her loved ones. It’s bittersweet as she’s in her baby bubble and is absolutely loving being a mum, but is going through a tough time.”

Charlotte shared the sad news as she posted a montage video on Instagram. “My little nana Jean,” she wrote alongside it. “Heartbroken doesn’t come close to how I’m feeling. The love of my life and the light of my life. From a little girl until now I have adored every inch of you. My brave strong nana. My beautiful nana.

“You were there when I entered the world and I was there when you took your last breath and left. I don’t think my world will ever be the same without you.”

Charlotte’s mum Letitia, 53, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, also wrote on Twitter, “I really don’t know what I [will] do without you mother,” alongside a string of heartbroken emojis.

The former Geordie Shore star later thanked fans for their messages of support, saying the “sadness has really consumed” her and that she’s “struggling”.

It comes after Charlotte welcomed Alba, whose father is her boyfriend Jake Ankers, via C-section in October. She previously admitted that announcing her pregnancy news to her nana “was the best thing in the world” and that it was “the happiest I’ve ever seen her”.

At the time she said: "I've got no words. We're just driving from me nana's house, we've just told my nana. And it was the best thing in the world."

Turning to her mum she asked: "Mum was that your favourite person finding out? Why?" To which Letitia replied: "She looked better than what I did, hair was done and everything!"

The reality star then continued: "Yeah but she was so happy. That's the happiest I've ever seen her – was that the happiest you've ever seen her?"

Our source adds, “She feels grateful that her nana was able to meet her little girl. Alba is a good distraction and is keeping her busy – and Jake has been her rock.”

Earlier this month, Charlotte called on her followers to pray for her nana as she visited her in hospital. While she didn’t share the reason, Charlotte said, “Another trip to the hospital.

"Kind of feel like I’ve spent more time in hospitals this year then my own home. “Please say a prayer for my little nana today,” before adding a crying emoji.
