Catherine Zeta-Jones has honoured her daughter Carys Zeta-Douglas, who turned 18 today, in a moving Instagram post. The Welsh-born actress praised her youngest for being a “kind woman”, but cheekily shared a candid text message exchange.
Taking to the picture-sharing site, the 51-year-old shared a series of snaps, with the first photo being of Carys as a young girl cradled in her mother’s arms.
The second snap was of the 18-year-old striking a model pose while bathing in the sea.
Catherine then took the opportunity to share the hilarious mum and daughter text exchange.
Carys wrote: “Thank you for giving birth to me!”
The actress replied: “Oh, giving birth to you was my proudest moment! Wait…Oscar?…No.
“Definitely YOU,” followed by a laughing emoji.
In view of her 3.6 million followers, Catherine accompanied the photos with a lengthy message where she described Carys as “insurmountable” but needing to work on her Japanese.
The mum-of-two said: “Happy 18th Birthday Carys Zeta! You are everything, and everything is you. Thank you for the joy you bring me.

“At 5am this morning, you texted me to thank me, for giving birth to you. That’s the kind of woman you are. Kind. Your wisdom outnumbers your years.”
She added: “Your beauty is deep and your heart is big enough to love and envelop the world, your sense of humor… very important… is insurmountable. I could go on.
“Your Japanese needs some work, but that’s doable. I love you angel. Mama.”
Carys was quick to respond, saying: “Love you, my mamma! Thank you for all that you do.”

Fans also offered birthday wishes, as the post gained over 70,000 likes in an hour.
“What a beautiful mother and daughter relationship. We need more loving situations like this in the world,” one wrote.
Another commented: “Both beautiful and lovely!”
While a third added: “Happy Birthday to your beautiful girl. She is Michael’s twin.”
Catherine has been married to her husband and fellow actor Michael Douglas, who is exactly 25 years older then her, since 2000.
The Hollywood pair also celebrate their birthday on the same day – September 25.
The happy couple announced their engagement back in December 1999 before exchanging vows at New York’s Plaza Hotel, after Michael had finalised his divorce from first wife Diandra Luker.
Michael and Catherine, who celebrated their 20th anniversary last year, share two children together – son Dylan 20, and Carys.
