Countdown legend Carol Vorderman, 60, has admitted she was concerned about the backlash she could face as she warned her BBC Radio Wales co-star that she was about to say something “controversial” on-air this morning. While chatting to Nathan Sussex about the dinner she bought from her local fish and chip shop last night, she revealed that she isn’t a fan of curry sauce.

The star then went on to reveal that The Chase quizzer Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast, had criticised a photo of her food and declared she was “dead to him” due to the lack of the popular sauce.

Carol prepared Nathan for her divisive remark, as Welsh people are well known for enjoying the dip with their chips.

The maths expert giggled: “Once I say this next statement…”

Nathan quickly replied: “Oh go on, controversial!”

Fearing that she could get “dragged out” of the studio due to her views, Carol told Nathan: “I may be dragged out by a shepherd’s crook through the studio never to be heard or seen again.

“I don’t like curry sauce.”

Nathan seemed shocked by Carol’s admission, as he gasped and exclaimed: “What?”

The television personality then chuckled and said: “I don’t actually like curry sauce.”

Addressing Mark’s opinion on the matter, Carol added: “You know The Beast, Mark Labbett?

“He said to me last night, I put this photo out, he went, ‘No curry sauce, you are dead to me Vorderman’.”

Nathan seemed to echo Mark’s opinion, jokingly replying to Carol: “We’ll be taken off air Carol, you know that?”

Carol laughed and admitted: “I know!

“Well we all have our preferences!” she added while defending her beliefs.

It comes after Carol took to Twitter to post a photo of her takeaway in view of her 458,000 followers.

She wrote alongside it: “Friday night is HUGE FISH AND CHIPS NIGHT…yessssssssss….with balsamic vinegar cos obviously I’m VERY posh.”(sic)

Quizzer Mark was quick to reply: “Balsamic Vinegar on Fish and Chips? You’re dead to me.”

“No curry sauce in sight!” a fan wrote back after seeing The Beast’s comment.

“Chips and curry sauce, the ideal combo,” Mark agreed.

Carol’s followers also joined Mark in sharing their thoughts on her dinner.

One person wrote: “No just noooo! Malt vinegar……that is all I’m so disappointed in you Vorders so very disappointed.”

Another added: “Love it! Condiments are on point!”

A third fan quizzed the star: “You ran out of malt vinegar didn’t you carol? However whilst in Australia when I asked for vinegar they thought I was crazy, so they gave me balsamic! Peas and tartar all the way.”
