Where is the hottest place in Spain?

BRITS craving some sun should head to Spain, where many of the islands remain above 20C even during the chillier spring season.

Here is where to go if you want the hottest holiday in Spain.

Where is the hottest place in Spain?

Andalusia is the hottest area in Spain and the whole of Europe. Cities such as Seville and Cordoba average above 36C in the summer.

Seville is the hottest city in Spain, with an annual average of 19C. Every year there are multiple days that are hotter than 40C.

The city’s annual average temperature is 25.4C during the daytime while it dips to just 13C at night.

However, in the summer months of May and June, Madrid can push a few degrees above Seville, if only briefly.

What is the hottest temperature in Spain?

Seville has a disputed historical record high of 50C, but this was back in 1881 and pre-dates modern recording methods.

The highest official temperature record belongs to another Andalusian city, Montoro, which reached 47.3C in July 2017.

Seville and Cordoba regularly see temperatures above 35C in the height of summer when Spain’s temperatures hit their peak.

Sometimes inland areas like Madrid can push hotter in these months because they lack the cooling coastal breezes.

For example, Madrid has a cooler average July-August temperature of 32C, but it can hit 38C. Seville can hit 35C, but normally only briefly.
