THE CHEAPEST seaside town for a UK staycation in 2023 has been revealed.
More and more people are opting to stay in Britain for their holidays, with the cost of flights and accommodation starting to soar.
With plenty of great seaside towns on offer in the country, it can be hard to find out which is the best to visit.
However, holiday website Independent Cottages has found out which UK beach resort offers the best value for money.
And it turns out that Hythe in Kent takes the crown for the most affordable holiday town in the UK.
The staycation accommodation provider analysed which coastal
destinations offer the cheapest average staycation property prices as
well as the cost of an ice cream cone and fish ‘n’ chip meal in the
destination's top-rated eateries.

As well as the beach, there are a few other things to see and do in the town, including a walk up to Hythe Sound Mirror – a giant sound dish sitting on top of a hill, from where visitors can enjoy spectacular views.
There's also the Brockhill Country Park, a former estate with landscaped gardens a lake and a play area.
It's not the only garden to visit in the town, with the American garden also popular among visitors and locals.
One TripAdvisor review claims that it's "the best garden in Kent, possibly Britain".

However, the top-rated thing to do in Hythe is visit the Crypt of St Leonard, where visitors can see the largest and best-preserved collection of ancient human skulls and bones in Britain.
The collection contains 1,000 skulls in total, and a single stack of bones and skulls measuring 7.5m in length, 1.8m in width and just over 1.8m in height.
It has an overall rating of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor. One guest wrote: "Hidden away up a steep hill just off Hythe High Street is this crypt. If you want to spend an unusual half hour visiting something different, look no further."
Elsewhere, visitors can take a trip to Saltwood Castle, a Grade I listed structure that dates back to the 11th century.
The site is famous for being the site where the plot was hatched to assassinate Thomas Becket.
The town is also popular with train spotters who come to see the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway.
From 1926 to 1978, the RH&DR held the title of the smallest public railway in the world and is known for its fleet of steam and diesel locomotives.
The average price of a holiday rental in Hythe is £111.00 per night, or £55.50pp when split between two.
Independent Cottages’ CEO Matt Fox said: "The cost of living crisis is
continuing to encourage people to tighten their purse strings and many will be looking for where they can get the best value for money when it comes to holidays this year.
"Luckily, when it comes to the seaside, we really are spoilt for choice in Britain as it’s home to so many wonderful destinations that can offer a wonderful coastal getaway for every need and budget.”
Kent, as a region, had two of its seaside destinations in the top five, with Hythe joined by Ramsgate, highlighting that the region is offering some of the best value for 2023 staycations.
Cornwall's Looe made it into the top 10 best-value seaside resorts,
which is interesting considering that the area is often regarded for
its high prices.
Llanfairfechan is the only seaside resort in the top 10 that is not in
England and highlights itself as Wales' best-value coastal
destination.
