HOTELS often advertise a discounted price on their website to entice customers into booking.
But how do you know if they're telling the truth and if you're actually getting a good deal?
A travel expert has revealed how you can tell whether a hotel promotion is a good deal or whether you're being fobbed off.
Chelsea Dickenson shared a video on her Instagram page which showed her looking online for a hotel booking.
In the video, she found a hotel offering a room for one night for £168, which had been discounted from £335.
She said: "Today I was looking for a hotel and came across this amazing promotion, but the cynic in me wanted to double-check how legit the deal was.
"So I searched for it on Google Hotels and scrolled down and tapped here."
At that point, she clicked a button that says whether prices are currently typical for the trip.

She continued: "This shows that while sometimes it will cost you over £289, you're much more likely to pay around £200 a night.
