First look at new 'European-style attraction' opening in the UK with adventure zone, theatre, and restaurants | The Sun

A NEW "European-style attraction" could soon open in the UK – and it will have an adventure zone, theatre, and food vans.

Plans have been approved for an urban park to open in Stockton in Country Durham.

According to the BBC, both Conservative and Labour councilors approved the plans, which are part of a larger £37 million regeneration project in the area.

Dan Fagan, who is a conservative councillor, said: "What stands out for me with the design of the park is it’s forward-looking, it’s futuristic – it looks like a European-style development."

The proposals were accompanied by a series of computer-generated images, which show a large pedestrianised area as well as several green spaces, and a performance space.

There will also be a selection of food and drink vans as well as an adventure play area complete with climbing boulders and swings.

Local stories will also be shared throughout the park.

A bridge over the A1305 and road changes were also put forward as part of the plans.

The park will be located in Stockton town centre on the site of the former Swallow Hotel.

The Castlegate Shopping Centre and multi-storey car park will also be demolished to make room for the park.

Steve Blacklock, an architect from Ryder Architecture, said: "It’s south-facing, overlooking the park so we’d like to see cafes, bars, restaurants spilling out onto that space, really animating that frontage.

"The land bridge, which is 50m wide, spills over the road and leads down into the grand amphitheatre which faces down onto the riverside.

"It’s quite big, great for holding some big events. We’ve got elements of play within that."

Other details about the urban park, including a potential open date, will be revealed soon.

And there are lots of other exciting new attractions opening in the UK.

And this summer, a UK attraction is reopening this summer without any rides or rollercoasters – but parents say their kids love it.
