British Airways cancels more than 100 flights today alone – as Brits face travel chaos during Easter getaways

BRITISH Airways has cancelled more than 100 flights today, as Brits face travel chaos while trying to go on an Easter break.

The airline has been forced to cancel at least 115 routes to and from London Heathrow this morning, due to a number of Covid rules.

The majority of flights were suspended after British Airways announced they were reducing their schedule last week, with flights affected until the end of May.

They confirmed this was to attempt to reduce further travel disruptions.

A spokesperson previously told Sun Online Travel: "While the vast majority of our flights continue to operate as planned, as a precaution we've slightly reduced our schedule between now and the end of May as we ramp back up."

Other flights cancelled today were due to ongoing Covid restrictions in place in destinations such as Tokyo.

However, only five of the cancellations were at short notice due to staff shortages caused by Covid, including routes to Paris and Oslo.

Sun Online Travel has contacted BA for additional comment.

The airline was forced to cancel flights last week due to an IT issue across the UK, affecting nearly 100 flights.

This is the second major IT failure British Airways has suffered in two months.
