What happened to Big Brother’s most popular couples including proposals and conman drama

Back in its day, Big Brother had millions of fans tuning in for the show’s drama, iconic housemates and infamous diary room moments.

And since leaving the Big Brother house, contestants have gone on to follow a variety of different paths from becoming fan favourites on daytime TV to becoming regular hosts of top radio shows.

But away from finding fame, some contestants found love in the Big Brother house.

So, in the name of love, here’s what some of our favourite Big Brother couples are up to now…

Grace Adams-Short and Mikey Dalton

Appearing on series seven of the show, Grace and Mikey’s romance has stood the test of time and 16 years later they have four children together.

Revealing their new baby son Atticus to OK! magazine, Grace, 36, described their time on the show as like a gap year from university.

”People go in with the plan they want to be an influencer. For us, it was the ultimate reality TV. I think it’s lost that shimmer now, as it’s not so much about the reality TV but what they’re going to promote afterwards,” said Grace, 36.

Mikey, 38 agreed: “People used to ask us what we gained financially from it. And things have done well for us, but I always say I got a wife!”

Lee Davey and Sophie Pritchard

Despite spending a mere 18 days in the Big Brother house together, things moved at lightning speed for series three contestants Lee and Sophie.

After Sophie arrived in the house on day 10, the pair went from strength to strength, with Lee even proposing to his bride-to-be live on Channel 4's RI:SE breakfast show.

Becoming the first ever housemates to get married, the couple tied the knot in front of former housemates including Jonny Regan and Alison Hammond.

Lee and Sophie went on to have a son Maxwell together, though they ended their relationship 10 months later.

Helen Adams and Paul Clarke

Though Helen was in a long-term relationship with her beau Big G when she entered the house, sparks flew from day one between Helen and Paul.

Away from the cameras, the series two couple lasted for five years and even turned down a fly-on-the-wall reality show in favour of a more private relationship.

But after realising that they were better off as friends, and with Helen realising that London life wasn’t for her, the pair called time on their relationship.

Michelle Bass and Stuart Wilson

Michelle and Stuart first met in 2004 and set rumours blazing when they got caught doing who knows what under a table.

After a year together, Michelle and “Chicken Stu” split up and Michelle launched a successful career as a glamour model.

Since then, she has married hypnotist Steve McKeown and the pair have two children together.

Stuart allegedly turned to music, unsuccessfully auditioning for a place in Son of Dork, James Bourne from Busted’s band.

Lisa Appleton and Mario Marconi

Entering the series nine house as a couple, Lisa and Mario got engaged on the show.

Things turned sour however when they were duped by a conman who has promised to give them their own reality TV series.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Lisa said: “[The conman] destroyed my life, confidence and dignity.

“When he disappeared we were penniless and homeless, we had nothing.”

The couple divorced in 2013, after eight years together.

Chanelle Hayes and Ziggy Lichman

They may have been called the ‘Posh and Becks of reality TV’ and become known for their cringe-inducing bathroom break-up but Chanelle and Ziggy only lasted six months outside of Big Brother.

Reuniting on an episode of Loose Women in 2018 to deny claims of a showmance, the stars both insisted that their relationship was genuine at the time, though they couldn’t make things work.

In 2020 mum of two Chanelletold The Sun that her and Ziggy were still in touch with one another despite their time apart.

“Yeah, we'll chat every now and again. I don't talk to anybody else from the show really,” she said.
