There’s no denying that when The Ordinary first sprung onto the beauty scene back in 2016, it really changed the game, setting an industry precedent for straightforward skincare products with equally fuss-free price tags.
Since then the brand, which sits under parent company Deciem, has built up legions of die-hard fans across the world who are obsessed with its bargain skincare buys. So news that it is branching further into the haircare space will definitely be music to many a beauty fan’s ears.
The three new products that make up the range join The Ordinary’s one existing haircare product – Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density , £15.90 here – with a shampoo, conditioner and scalp serum completing the line-up. Keeping in line with its affordable reputation, all of the new products cost less than £11. Here’s what you need to know about them…
The Ordinary Sulphate 4% Cleanser for Hair and Body, £6.80 here
Sulphates don’t have the best reputation with everybody, and while that may not be completely unfounded, many people can use them with no problems at all. Described by The Ordinary as “one of haircare’s most misconceived ingredients”, the cleansing ingredient is sodium laureth sulphate (aka SLES-2), which is at a 4% concentration that the brand says is gentle enough for the hair and scalp and can be used on the body, too.
The Ordinary Behentrimonium Chloride 2% Conditioner,£6.80 here
The Ordinary’s debut conditioner is all about leaving your strands soft without any heavy, weighed down feeling thanks to a under-the-radar conditioning ingredient, behentrimonium chloride. The formula works to detangle, soften and condition your hair all while being safe for coloured hair, too.
The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA for Scalp, £10.90 here
Scalp care has always been a key part of the journey to healthy hair, but it’s only in recent years that people are waking up to its importance. This scalp serum contains a skincare-famous hydrating ingredient, hyaluronic acid, which helps to moisturise your scalp, while fatty acids, ceramides and amino acids help to support its health. The results promise stronger hair over time, without ever leaving a sticky residue behind at the roots.
If the price tags hadn’t already sold it to us, the look of this lot certainly has!
