Stock up with these Easter treats to save cash over the Bank Holiday weekend.

1. Hot cross buns: Whether you enjoy yours plain or with lashings of butter, head to Tesco to where all buns are two packs for £2 — usually priced at up to £1.50 for a pack of four, depending on the flavour. If traditional buns don’t float your boat, they have alternative options including salted caramel, maple syrup and blueberry, fudge and chocolate, apple and cinnamon and orange and cranberry. Yum. 2. Cheep treats: Not a fan of chocolate? You can still enjoy a festive sugar hit with Swizzels Squashies Drumchicks. 3. Lamb: Looking forward to an Easter roast? Lamb is typically the meat of choice for Easter weekend, but it needn’t set you back a fortune. Head to Morrisons and nab a half leg of New Zealand lamb for just £7.56 — saving nearly 50 per cent on Waitrose’s New Zealand half leg of lamb, £14.79. SAVING: £7.23
4. Simnel cake: If you’ve not baked yourself the traditional Easter treat they can be tricky to come by on the high street. But you can still enjoy a slice for less by popping to Waitrose, where they’re selling Simnel cakes that serve ten for just £8. This is a huge saving when compared to fancy Fortnum & Mason’s version at £25. Even better, make your own. However, this is only better value if you’re going to reuse the leftover ingredients again for cake-making. SAVING: £17
