Sleeping dog will ONLY wake up if her owner says the ‘magic word’ – as viral video shows her snoozing while he lists foods until he finally says ‘chicken’
- Isaac Brown, an athletic coach from Canada, has gone viral on TikTok for revealing the ‘magic word’ that will wake up his dog, Xena
- He talks to the camera while she sleeps next to him, listing lots of foods including hamburger and salmon
- He says she will only wake up if he says a few things, spelling them out
- They include ‘walk,’ ‘outside,’ and ‘ride in the car’
- When he finally says ‘chicken,’ her eyes instantly open and she lifts her head to look up at him, seemingly ready for chicken
In the ’90s, Linda Evangelista famously told Vogue that she doesn’t ‘wake up for less than $10,000 a day’ — something that one very perceptive pup on TikTok can relate to.
Except in the dog’s case, it’s chicken.
Isaac Brown, an athletic coach from Canada, has gone viral on TikTok for revealing the ‘magic word’ that will wake up his dog, Xena.
In a video that been viewed 27.6 million times, he demonstrates how Xena sleeps peacefully next to him while he speaks, and only opens her eyes when he names her favorite food.

In the video, Isaac sits next to Xena on the sofa, with the dog sleeping under his arm.
‘She’s sleeping peacefully,’ he says. ‘And I could say just about anything except three things.
‘If I say the word c-h-i-c-k-e-n,’ he says, spelling it out, ‘she will wake up. If I ask her if she wants to go o-u-t-s-i-d-e, she will wake up. If I ask her if she wants to go r-i-d-e in the c-a-r, she will wake up.
‘Anything else I say, she’s not waking up,’ he says.
Here, he proves his point by listing a bunch of other foods, including steak, beef, hamburger, peanut butter, and salmon — and even though he says his dog ‘loves salmon,’ she continues to sleep soundly.
‘Bone’ and ‘dog treat’ also get no reaction.
‘Oh, if I say the word w-a-l-k, she’ll wake up,’ he adds.
‘What else do dogs like? She likes pretzels. If I mention one of her t-o-y-s, she’ll wake up,’ he goes on.
Finally, he demonstrates how the magic word works.
‘I know she loves c-h-i-c-k-e-n. Chicken,’ he says, uttering the word.
At that, the dog’s eyes instantly open.
While Isaac smiles, the dog raises her head and looks around, clearly waiting for the chicken he spoke of.
She looks at Isaac expectantly, garnering a laugh from her owner.
