Rihanna stepped out in NYC over the weekend for a dinner date at Carbone with A$AP Rocky, dressed in a black satin cone bra ($650) and matching lace-up leggings ($990) from Jean Paul Gaultier’s collaboration with stylist Lotta Volkova.
The pointy piece has also popped up on the likes of Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Kylie Jenner over the past year.
“This look, this exaggeration of the breasts, is really an empowering silhouette,” Natalie Nudell, a fashion historian and adjunct instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, told Page Six Style in 2021 of the trend — adding that it’s no coincidence stars like Cardi and Megan gravitate toward it, as they “present themselves as extremely empowered women, using their bodies and their sexualities as a tool to do that.”
The 34-year-old Bad Gal, who certainly fits the same description, made the iconic style her own by styling it with a black leather trench coat, Dior saddle bag and The Attico heels ($603), yielding a look that was equal parts Madge and “The Matrix.”
Rocky, 33, wore a navy blue jacket and shorts by Raf Simons, along with a graphic T-shirt, black-and-white brogues and dark sunglasses to match his girlfriend’s.
The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in May — and while expecting, Rihanna wowed fans with her pregnancy style, stepping out in looks that ranged from rare Chanel vintage to totally sheer Dior.
