Prince Harry reportedly found it “cathartic” to write about his “traumatic” childhood for his forthcoming memoir.

“At this stage, there are no regrets,” a royal insider told Us Weekly, adding that while it was “cathartic,” it was also a “very rough process.”

“And very difficult for him to recount certain traumatic events from his childhood,” the source added.

Harry notably lost his mom, Princess Diana, when she died in a car crash on Aug. 31, 1997, when he was just 12 years old. His estranged brother, Prince William, was 15 at the time.

The Duke of Sussex has reportedly written about his life in a way that will “minimize the fallout,” according to the source.

“Harry has been working hard to strike a balance that will hopefully minimize the fallout caused by this book,” the insider said, adding that Harry is trying to stay “true to his principles” and keep his publishers “happy at the same time.”
