Nursery rhymes are supposed to be innocent and suitable for children, right? Well, not quite.
But it turns out some of the classic tales we grew up with have a very dark history.
And it will certainly cause nightmares rather getting tots off to a peaceful sleep.

Most people are familiar with 'This Little Piggy'.
The tale of five piglets going about their day which is read out while an adult lightly touches the child's toes – or piggies – and then tickles them resulting in laughter.
However, Twitter user Samantha discovered at the age of 22 that the rhyme is no laughing matter.
"I'm 22-years-old and I just realised that 'this little piggy went to the market' doesn't mean he went food shopping," the Twitter user wrote.
Let's just say picturing a happy pig skipping down to the stalls of fresh bread and fruit would be wrong.
Instead the farmyard animal is actually off to get slaughtered and sold for its meat.
It doesn't look like the rest of the piggies have much of a bright future either.
The 'little piggy staying home' refers to the animal not ready to be chopped yet, so has to stay put until it gets big enough to slaughter.
As for the 'little piggy having roast beef', they are not enjoying a Sunday lunch – they are actually getting fattened up for the slaughter house.
The 'piggy that gets none' is simply too small to be slaughtered.
So no wonder why the last little piggy cried all the way home after watching their mates meet their end!
"Childhood ruined," the Today Years Old Twitter account admitted after sharing Samantha's original tweet.
It seemed that many others were shocked to find out about the real meaning behind the nursery rhyme too.
One person related: "I’m 27 and just realized that’s why the the last piggy went crying all the way home."
Another user added: "Omg… I never even thought about it."
While a third gasped: "Ugh… I’m 48 & never thought about it until now!"
It doesn't look good for other rhymes we all know and love either.
"Wait till she finds out what Ring Around the Rosie is about," one cryptically shared.
