Millions of Brits suffering from 'vaccination fatigue' and may refuse to have more Covid jabs

MILLIONS of people across the country are suffering from ‘vaccination fatigue’ and could refuse to have any more jabs to fight the virus, according to a new study.

Take-up of the Covid booster vaccine has slowed since the start of the year, while new research shows that one in five people say they are fed up with vaccinations and don’t want them any more.

Despite the massive success of the country’s vaccination programme, more than half the 2,000 people questioned for a study by Well Pharmacy, Britain’s leading independent pharmacy chain, say they are now concerned about the effect that having so many Covid jabs will have on their body.

As the Omicron variant appears to have peaked and Plan B restrictions are lifted, more than 20 per cent of Brits now believe Covid is on the way out, while 44 per cent say it is just something we will have to live with in the future.

But if things do take a turn for the worse, two thirds of people say they will have as many jabs as is takes, and only one in eight say they would refuse to co-operate with any future lockdowns.

Gill Stone, Deputy Pharmacy Superintendent at Well Pharmacy, said: “There have been lots of opinions about Covid-19 vaccines.

"The evidence from research shows they are safe and provide vital protection against hospitalisation and serious illness.

“Vaccines are a huge part of the reason we are now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and it would be a mistake to waver now.

“It’s understandable that people may be suffering from vaccination fatigue. But it is vital for the good of the country – and our own individual health – that everyone gets vaccinated.

“So please come along and get vaccinated if you are eligible.

"Many Well pharmacies across the country are helping the NHS deliver these and it’s easy to book an appointment via the National Booking System.

"And if you haven’t had the first or second vaccination, we can give those too.”

Latest official figures show that more than 37million people in Britain have been fully vaccinated with first and second doses plus booster.

But 16million adults have yet to have the booster and 4million are still completely unvaccinated.
