What the royals said at St Paul’s: Lip reader reveals light-hearted moments including Princess Eugenie worrying about her dry skin and Meghan Markle telling Zara Tindall she ‘looks great’
- Royal family members attended a Platinum Jubilee thanksgiving service at St Paul’s in central London today
- The Queen was unable to go to the event, due to struggling with mobility issues after a busy day previously
- Lip reader Juliet Sullivan, who watched the footage, revealed some of the conversations that took place
- Royals were seen talking about fashion, their dry skin, the temperature, and how well the service went
A lip reading expert has revealed some of the conversations shared by the royals as they attended the Platinum Jubilee thanksgiving service at St Paul’s today, with members of the Firm discussing the weather, fashion, and their dry skin.
According to Juliet Sullivan, footage from the event shows Meghan Markle, 40, and her husband Prince Harry, 37, complimenting his cousin Zara Tindall, 41, on her outfit.
It also shows Princess Eugenie worrying about whether her face looked ok as her skin was dry, and Prince William, 40, making small talk with the Lord Mayor about how warm he must be, as he’s greeted upon his arrival at St Paul’s.
Senior royals, as well as members of the extended family, attended today’s event, which kicked off the second day of Platinum Jubilee.

Her Majesty was unable to go to the service herself. Last night she revealed that she would have to ‘reluctantly’ pull out of today’s service, after experiencing ‘discomfort’ during yesterday’s Trooping The Colour events.
According to a Palace statement, the 96-year-old ‘greatly enjoyed’ her birthday parade and flypast but ‘did experience some discomfort’.
It said: ‘Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty, with great reluctance, has concluded that she will not attend.’
In addition, Prince Andrew was not at the event, after yesterday announcing that he has tested positive for Covid.
However, the ceremony appeared to go off without a hitch, leaving the royals plenty of time to have conversations among themselves.

As well as the royals, at today’s thanksgiving service were around 400 members of the public, including key workers, charity volunteers and members of the armed forces, who were invited to the service in recognition of their contribution to public life.
The Bishop of London said earlier today that she is ‘excited’ ahead of the thanksgiving service. Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, who will be leading the blessing at St Paul’s, told BBC Breakfast: ‘I’m excited, I think.’
She added that she was nervous about the ceremonial regalia she needs to wear. ‘It’s a coat called the George V coat.
‘It’s quite an old coat, which is a cape and it sits on me, but of course it was designed for men because I’m the first woman who happens to be the Bishop of London,’ she said. ‘So, it doesn’t sit quite as well on me, so I’m slightly nervous.’
She said that Her Majesty’s Christian faith has ‘always shaped her’ and she feels privileged to play a part in the service and ‘give thanks’ to The Queen for her service to the country.
