The Duchess of Cambridge stole the show in a pair of £10,500 diamond earrings as she hit the red carpet for the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in London. 

Kate, 40, looked resplendent in a pair of diamond earrings in 18ct white gold by Chelsea-based jeweller Robinson Pelham as she joined Prince William at the glitzy gala screening.

Hailed as the ‘ultimate in versatile earrings’ the spectacular accessories are a signature piece of the jeweller, which specialises in ready-to-wear and one-off earrings.

The Duchess of Cambridge was the picture of elegance in an off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret column gown, £2,300 Alexander McQueen clutch as she made her glamorous entrance on the red carpet at the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick this evening 

The breathtaking earrings, which feature eye-catching diamond starburst studs and drops, are available in breathtaking white and gold diamond as well as pink and purple sapphires. 

The mother-of-three was the picture of elegance in an off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret column gown, £2,300 Alexander McQueen clutch as she made her glamorous entrance on the red carpet. 

Meanwhile William, 39, demonstrated his sartorial flair in a midnight blue Alexander McQueen velvet dinner jacket, tuxedo trousers and velvet slippers embroidered with miniature fighter jets in a nod to the film.

The couple joined leading man Tom Cruise and his co-stars Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller as A-listers and British TV royalty descended on London’s Leicester Square for the premiere. 

Cruise, who took part in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations last weekend, introduced the royal couple to his co-stars Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm and Miles Teller.

Ahead of the premiere, Cruise, 59, said he and the Duke of Cambridge ‘have a lot in common’ as he spoke of his admiration for the royal. 

‘We have a lot in common. We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love flying,’ he said. 

The actor also expressed his joy to be back on the red carpet, saying: ‘I love what I do, I’ve always enjoyed it and I’m enjoying it even more now. ‘Particularly after the last couple of years, just to have an event like this is extraordinary.’ 

Maverick, which has so far received rave reviews from critics, sees Hollywood star Cruise reprise the role of US naval aviator Pete Mitchell and is being released 36 years after the 1986 original. 

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were welcomed to the premiere by Lord Lieutenant Sir Kenneth Olisa, Cameron Saunders, Acting Chair of The Film and TV Charity and Alex Pumfrey, the organisation’s CEO.

According to reports Kate and William were honoured with their own VIP preview of the new film at a London cinema last month after Cruise heard William was a big fan of the original 1986 film.

The royals were joined by a whole host of A-listers at the event – posing in front of a real P51 fighter plane jet outside the central cinema.

Among them was Carol Vorderman, 61, who got into the spirit of things by slipping into a tight fitting flight suit with a pair of aviator sunglasses hanging from her chest.

Miss Atwell – who stars alongside Cruise in the upcoming Mission Impossible film – looking stunning in a black velvet crop top with a matching long skirt a gloves.

The pair have been plagued with rumours they are dating but their current relationship status is unclear following reports of a break-up.

The event is being held as a fundraising event in aid of The Film and TV Charity, which supports people working behind the scenes in the UK’s screen sector.

The Duchess of Cambridge waves to royal fans as she and Prince William hit the red carpet for the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick this evening 

The most recent performance featured a screening of First World War epic 1917, directed by Sir Sam Mendes, and took place in 2019 at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall in attendance.

On Sunday he attended an event celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Windsor. Last night he was in Cannes to promote the film at the annual Film Festival.  Tonight marks the 76th Royal Film Performance.  

Initially called the Royal Command Film Performance, the first Royal Film Performance took place at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square in 1946 and was attended by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret.
