DEAR DEIDRE: MY beautiful tortoiseshell cat has died and I’m devastated.
He was given to me as a kitten 13 years ago, when I was a child, by my late grandad.
It feels like he has always been a part of my life and I don’t know how I’ll cope without him.
I’m a 22-year-old man who suffers from anxiety and the cat helped to keep me calm.
He used to curl up on my lap when I was stressed. I’d stroke him and he’d purr and rub his face against mine.
People say cats don’t care about humans, but mine was different.

Now I feel numb and lost – and so alone.
I can’t talk to anyone about this, especially my mates, because they’ll think I’m pathetic for being so upset about a pet.
