Prince Harry: Ex-ITN royal editor says his popularity has fallen
Prince Harry was voted the most popular royal in a recent survey. The prince has won the heart of the Big Apple according to the poll, as the Duke of Sussex is New York’s favourite member of the Royal Family.
More than 39 percent of New Yorkers voted Harry the most likeable royal ahead of King Charles’s Coronation this weekend, which the Duke of Sussex has confirmed he will be attending the ceremony before travelling back to the US.
Harry beat Princess Kate for the top spot by more than 10 percent, who came in second with 28 percent of the vote, while Prince William was placed in third with 24 percent of the vote.
However, other US States have voted Kate their favourite royals, such as Alaska and Hawaii.
In fourth place was Meghan Markle, who has confirmed she will not be attending the Coronation, and in fifth place in the research was King Charles.
Prince Edward was placed last in the top 10 list according to the data, while other lesser-known royals Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall received zero percent of the votes.
The research was conducted by BonusFinder, a betting agency, and the survey was taken between April 21 and 24.
Harry and Meghan’s popularity has decreased in the UK too, with more young people becoming less sympathetic to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The study in the UK was produced by Conservative deputy chairman Lord Ashcroft, who discovered that Harry was the third least-popular royal with an approval rating of 22 percent while Meghan was at 18 percent.
In an article for the Daily Mail, Lord Ashcroft wrote: “We found people in Britain less likely to sympathise with Harry and Meghan than with the King and Prince William.
“But for some, the complaints from California – followed by Lady Susan Hussey’s ill-fated Buckingham Palace conversation with activist Ngozi Fulani – chimed with their existing assumptions about prejudice and intolerance.”

Prince William was the UK’s most popular royal with 64 percent of the vote, while both Princess Kate and Princess Anne tied for second place.
King Charles received 54 percent of the vote while Queen Camilla was placed at 39 percent, while the most unpopular member of the Royal Family was Prince Andrew whose approval rating was seven percent.
Those aged between 18 to 34 have also had their opinion of Harry and Meghan lowered, with 40 percent saying they disliked the royal couple.
One person in the study’s focus group explained the publication of Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’ and the couple’s Netflix series was their reason for giving the Sussexes’ a low rating.
They said: “It was ‘we don’t want the publicity, we don’t want the attention, we just want to live our lives. Now stay tuned for our documentary and my book’.”
