Princess Eugenie is a very popular royal, but who is her best friend? Body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk that as well as her incredible bond with sister Princess Beatrice, Eugenie has always gravitated towards Prince Harry’s partners.
Judi first noted that the bond between Eugenie, Beatrice and their mother Sarah Ferguson – the ‘tripod’ – is an unbreakable one.
The expert told Express.co.uk: “In the past Eugenie has rarely been photographed without her sister Beatrice and her mother Fergie, with their duo/trio body language defining the strongest bonds of loyalty and love, almost to the point where it might have looked for any other friendships to intrude.”
However, while “Beatrice has always seemed to be Eugenie’s best friend as well as her sibling”, other friendships have also been “important” to the Princess.
According to the expert, “three of them in particular having one outstanding link”.
Eugenie and Harry are cousins but have also been very close pals throughout their lives, and this relationship has endured despite Harry’s stepping down as a senior royal and moving to America.
And the expert suggested that Eugenie has always taken a keen interest in Harry’s partners, not just Meghan Markle but those who came before her.
Judi said: “When Eugenie met Meghan, Harry described the two women as ‘hitting it off straight away’ and even ‘hugging like sisters.’

“Eugenie and Jack have visited the Sussex’s in the US and the photos that emerged show Eugenie and Meghan looking very much like fun-loving friends, especially the glimpses of the pair partying in fancy dress at Halloween.”
Judi noted that their “arm-hugging and mirrored signals of spontaneous fun” showed a “new side to Eugenie”.
This was a “contrast” to the “rather regal woman we normally see at public events in the UK”.
But Judi observed that Meghan the first of Harry’s romantic interests that Eugenie warmed too.
She claimed: “Eugenie does have history with Harry’s ex-girlfriends, too, though.
”She and Chelsey Davy were once described as ‘party pals’, being seen looking immensely friendly at launch parties back in 2012 and 2016 and chatting at a party at Annabel’s in 2018.
”Their greeting hugs appear to have been far too intense to define polite social acquaintances.
“Chelsey’s smile suggests she is totally delighted to see Eugenie and the women’s double-armed close hugging signals strong friendship and levels of affection.”
As for another of Harry’s exes Cressida Bonas, “Eugenie was even rumoured to have been the matchmaker”.
In Spare, the Prince revealed that he and Cressida both filled Eugenie in separately on an awkward moment they shared when Harry leaned in for a kiss on their date but missed, leading to a “graze”.
He wrote: “I told her the date had gone well but the ending had left something to be desired. She didn’t disagree. She’d already spoken to Cressida. She sighed. Awkward.”
Judi concluded: “Eugenie’s friendships with Harry’s partners does of course reflect the closeness of her friendship with Harry.
“Eugenie almost seems like the ideal royal big sister for Harry, either bonding with his partners over the years or even matchmaking them in what looks like a strong desire to see her cousin be happy and loved-up.”
