What are the Royal Family doing when they aren’t attending engagements or meeting the public? Behind the royal scenes they are also grandmothers and grandfathers, parents and friends, with interests of their own, including Queen Camilla.
Queen Camilla revealed that she has a very close relationship with her granddaughters.
Eliza Lopes, 14, is the daughter of Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopes and husband Harry Lopes.
Lola Parker Bowles, 15, is the daughter of Tom Parker Bowles and Sara Parker Bowles.
Camilla did not specify which, but she revealed that she shares a sweet evening ritual with one of the girls.
She stated: “I do Wordle every day with my granddaughter.”
And while Camilla’s teenage granddaughter is pretty sharp when it comes to the game, it’s Queen Camilla who usually comes out on top.
Camilla stated: “She’ll text me to say, ‘I’ve done it in three’, and I say, ‘Sorry, I’ve done it in two today’.
Camilla admitted that she may have a slight competitive streak: “It’s very satisfactory when it tells you how brilliant you are,” she told Vogue.
The tech-savvy Queen Consort, 75, uses her iPad to play the game daily.
Wordle is the New York Times puzzle where players have to guess the five letter word in just five goes.
She also enjoys texting her grandchildren and admitted that it’s “very nice getting a text”.
She continued: “We learn from very young people and they learn from us, too. That’s the way it’s always been.”
But aside from the tricky yet addictive word game, and the back and forth iMessaging, what else does Camilla do with her grandchildren?
Ever the doting granny, the Queen Consort likes to do things that any typical grandmother would.
She admitted that she’s keen on giving them “more of the things their parents usually forbid them to have”.
She also likes spending quality time with them, taking advantage of the fact that one of her grandchildren lives near her house in Wiltshire.
Camilla explained that when her parents are away she likes to pick her up and take her home.
Camilla has five grandchildren from her children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes.
These are Lola Parker Bowles, Freddy Parker Bowles, Eliza Lopes, Louis Lopes and Gus Lopes.
Of course, Camilla also has five step-grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
