Brit concerned after finding mysterious symbol spray painted outside their home

There are many things that we will just not understand, like the true meaning of life or in this case the mysterious markings of men in hi-vis jackets.

One British Reddit user had a bit of a scare when the latter of the two ponders of the world showed up at the end of their drive.

Graffiti usually comes in the form of a maturely drawn phallic or some sort of vulgar word sprawled across the walls of under passes.

But the white spray painted half circle and arrow looking shape upon the pavement on this Reddit user's drive has caused a bit of confusion – and worry.

They have fretted the marking was used to target a potential burglary, which was not helped by some mischievous trolls.

With a snap of the unusual marking, the original poster asked: “What does this mean? Men in hi-vis sprayed it at the end of my drive.”

And, at first got some very silly answers from fellow Brits.

One person chuckled: “They're going to steal your dad for illegal underground dad fighting.”

Another user mocked: “I've asked the local Facebook group and a load of Karen's tell me it means they're going to nick your dog.”

Whilst a third giggled: “Directions to Narnia.”

But fear not, the homeowner was not about to get ransacked.

Some more well-behaved Reddit users provided some more plausible answers.

One user claimed: “The curve looks like a symbol I’ve seen used for a water mains connection. The arrow might mean it’s the end of the pipe.”

Someone else shared: “I'm guessing utilities marker.”

And, this user suggested: “Perhaps relating to a gas main or position of future service upgrade? You may be getting a new water/gas supply maybe? Or new cabling for street furniture.”

So, the symbol is just a marker to assist the men in the hi-vis to carry out their work correctly.

This provided a sigh of relief to the worried owner of the marked drive.

They expressed: “So glad my house isn’t going to get burgled.”
