FORGET duty free because Amazon is selling a GIANT Toblerone bar that weighs a whopping 4.5 kilograms – but it will set you back £60.
To put that into perspective, that's the same as 12 and a half of the normal 360g ones or a new born baby.
- Toblerone Milk Chocolate Jumbo Bar 4.5kg, £59.99 (Was: £73.99, Save: £14) – buy now
The massive chocolate bar is in the Amazon bank holiday sale for £59.99 down from £73.99.
You'll be saving £14 in the sales but is it really as good as it sounds?
We've worked out that you'll actually be paying over the odds for the Swiss chocolate because you can buy a 360g bar for £4 from Morrisons.
That means you can buy 13 bars – which altogether weighs 4.68kg – for £52, so you'll be forking out another £8 for the novelty bar.
Not to mention you'll be getting less chocolate for your buck.
They're not the only retailer that's stocked the giant snacks either – shoppers would have spotted them in Morrisons and Tesco on the build up to Christmas last year.
And the supermarket was selling them still cheaper than Amazon at £57.
It's not the best price that Amazon has offered either. The retailer dropped the price to £43.75 in January this year.
How to make sure you get the best deals in the Amazon sales
ALTHOUGH some of the deals might look great, it’s important to know whether they’re actually any good before parting with your cash. Here are a few things you can do to make sure you’re not going to be ripped-off
- Check CamelCamelCamel to check the product's price history to see if you really are getting a good deal, or whether you could get a better one later if you held out. You can also set up price alerts to let you know when the cost drops.
- Use FakeSpot to check whether the item is genuine or not. The site scans the reviews to see if they're "reliable" or not so you can decide whther you trust the seller.
- Sign up to the 30 day Amazon Prime trial to take advantage of the Lightning Deals and free delivery. But remember to cancel the subscription before the trial is up or you'll be charged the full £79.
- Put the items you want in your basket ahead of the sales so that when the deals drop, all you'll have to do is pay.
And even if you're hoping to get one in time for the festive season it might actually be worth holding off until the Black Friday deals come around.
We checked the price history on CamelCamelCamel and spotted that last year's price dropped to £50 in November and again to £45 in December on the lead up to Christmas.
But while you might be paying extra for the gimmick it might make quite a fun impression if you're willing to splash the cash.
The deal ends on August 29 before the price is likely to shoot back up to £73.99.
