Gardening tips: How to remove moss on drives and patios
Moss, in particular, can be hard to avoid, making it imperative that households keep on top of any growth and respond quickly to eradicate the issue.
Moss is a small plant, which thrives in damp, shaded spots and can absorb water and nutrients through its leaves to create its food by photosynthesis. As such, it requires very little to survive and even less to grow and spread. That’s how it ends up littering patios, driveways and paving.
As moss mainly reproduces when its spores get blown in the wind, it can end up growing on any surface; including driveways, patios and in the damp cracks between paving slabs.
In hopes to find the “best way” to get rid of moss on driveways, one woman to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks page to ask for some advice.

It’s not just Mrs Hinch fans that recommend using soda crystals to kill moss, so do the experts at cleaning company Dri-Pak.
They said: “Not only are moss and slime unsightly they are also a slip hazard. Clear them by sprinkling soda crystals directly onto the affected areas and use a watering can to wet the area.
“Alternatively, you can simply put them down when rain is expected. Leave to treat for a day, until the moss turns brown. Then brush or scrape off and rinse with plenty of water.”
A 2kg bag of soda crystals retails for £1.90 at Tesco. However, as 500g of it only needs to be used at one time, this works out as 90p per use.
