Food recalls are issued when a product is unsafe for customers to use. For example, if an item contains an ingredient not mentioned on the label, it could cause harm to someone with allergies. Here is the full list of the supermarkets that currently have active food recalls.
Tesco
Tesco has recalled Opies Pickled Walnuts because, due to a packaging error, some jars may contain undeclared ingredients.
The popular Christmas product may consist of pickled cornichons and onions with mustard and sulphites, which aren’t declared on the label.
Tesco said: “This means it’s a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxides/sulphites.”
The supermarket went on to inform customers to return the product to their nearest Tesco store for a refund.
No receipt is required.
Tesco has also recalled a dairy product in recent days.
St Helen’s Farm Goats Butter is being recalled because the product may contain small pieces of metal which may pose a risk to health
All best before dates up to and including March 2022 are affected.
Again, customers should return the item to their nearest Tesco store for a refund.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s has also recalled St Helen’s Farm Goats Butter in recent days.
As well as this, the supermarket has another active recall: The Naturya Organic Hemp Protein Powder.
This product is being recalled because it contains gluten which is not declared on the packaging.
This means it could be harmful to those who have an allergy to gluten.
Sainsbury’s is therefore advising customers to return the product to their nearest Sainsbury’s store for a refund.
Waitrose
Waitrose is also currently recalling Opied Pickled Walnuts, as well as St Helen’s Farm Goats Butter.
Another active recall on the supermarket’s website is the Thrive Fish Pie.
This product is being recalled because in some beef lasagne packs there is an undeclared egg not mentioned on the label.
Waitrose has advised customers: “Do not consume if you have an allergy or intolerance to egg.
“Package up item.
“Return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.”
Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer is recalling Made Without Wheat Gluten Free White Sourdough Cob because of undeclared wheat, or gluten.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The supermarket advised: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, do not eat it.
“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
“For more information please contact Marks and Spencer customer care line on 03330 148 555.”
