Supermarket products get recalled all the time. Co-op is the latest to issue a food recall notice. Any customers who have recently bought the Salmon En Croute are being asked to return the product to store. Here are the details.
Co-op is recalling Co-op Salmon En Croute because it contains undeclared prawns (crustaceans).
Prawns have not been mentioned on the label.
Due to a packaging error from the factory, some packs have been incorrectly labelled.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to prawns and/or crustaceans.
There are two versions of the Salmon En Croute that are being recalled.
The pack size is 400g.
One batch code is WO140950, with a use by date of November 11, 2021.
The other batch code is WO140951, with a use by date of November 12, 2021.
As for what action Co-op is taking, alongside recalling the product from customers, they have also contacted the relevant allergy support originations, which will tell their members about the recall.
The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.
These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
Customers who have bought the product have been told to do the following.
Return product to nearest Coop store for a refund, or if you are self-isolating or shielding please contact our Customer Careline.

Co-op has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
The FSA’s advice is: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to prawns (crustaceans), do not eat it.
“Instead return it to the nearest Co-op store for a full refund.
“If you are self-isolating or shielding please contact the Co-op customer careline on 0800 0686 727 or email [email protected].”
What is a food recall and/or allergy alert?
The FSA explains: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold.
“Then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).
“Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.
“When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
