Food recalls are issued when a product is unsafe for customers to use. For example, if an item contains an ingredient not mentioned on the label, it could cause harm to someone with allergies. Here is the full list of the latest supermarket food recalls.
Asda
Asda is recalling its own brand Maple Flavour Pork Belly Slices because of undeclared ingredients.
The meat product contains wheat and soya which are not mentioned on the label.
This means it is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy intolerance to wheat or gluten, or an allergy to soya, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The Maple Flavour Pork Belly Slices come in a pack 400g in size and have a best before date of October 29, 2021.
In its notice to customers, Asda said: “If you have purchased Maple Flavour Pork Belly Slices with the above use by date, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.
“You do not need your receipt.”
Asda, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s
JK Foods is recalling one of its popular products due to undeclared ingredients.
Flying Goose Sriracha Mayo Sauce is being withdrawn from shelves because it contains mustard and soya not mentioned on the packaging.
The sauce is sold at major British supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Asda.
The product has mustard and soya in it but these ingredients are not mentioned on its label in English.
This means it is a possible health risk for anyone who has an allergy to mustard or soya.
The Sriracha sauce’s pack size is 445ml and its best before date is August 28, 2022.
Lidl
The German discounter is recalling its own brand oat milk after a video on TikTok showing lumps in the milk went viral.
Social media star and poster of the video, Luna Martin, 23, said the milk was “lumpy and sour”.
The oat milk has been withdrawn from shelves, but Lidl has assured customers it will be back in stores very soon.
A Lidl spokesperson said: “At Lidl, it is never our intention for a customer to be dissatisfied in any way and we work very closely with our suppliers to ensure that the products in our stores are of the highest possible quality.
“Following customer feedback we have recalled the affected batch and the product will be back in stores very soon.”
Waitrose
Waitrose & Partners is recalling its Belgian Dark Chocolate with Raisins and Almonds because of undeclared hazelnuts.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to hazelnuts.
Due to a packaging error, some packs contain Waitrose Belgian Dark Chocolate with Hazelnuts instead.
Waitrose said: “If you have an allergy to hazelnuts do not consume and package up the item and return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.
“Contact: Waitrose Customer Care 0800 188 881, Option Four.
“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
Morrisons
Morrisons also has an active food recall on some of its own-brand ice creams.
The supermarket is recalling its Milk Chocolate Amour Ice Creams in a three pack with a best before date of February 2023.
This is due to it containing pieces of blue plastic.
The retailer said: “Morrisons is recalling this product code February 2023 because there is a risk that some packs may contain pieces of plastic. No other products or best before dates are affected.
“Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We do not need a receipt.
“No other products are affected by this issue.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”
