IT is the new hairstyle that got everyone talking and it has even been banned by one school.
Here's everything you need to know about the controversial 'Meet me at McDonald's' haircut, and why a headmaster refused to allow it in his school.
What is the 'meet me at McDonald's haircut'?
The 'Meet me at Mcdonald's' haircut is reminiscent of styles from the 1980s.
It features a short sides, but with a tousled (or even permed) top and long floppy fringe.
Norwich barber Elliot Branford described it as: "A grade zero or a one on the sides, then disconnected with a perm or curly on the top and you have it sitting forwards."
It is unclear where its quirky name originated from, though.
Why has a school banned it?
Great Yarmouth Charter Academy has a notoriously strict dress code which includes many hairstyles.
In a letter home to parents, headmaster Barry Smith explicitly bans: "variations on the style often known as ‘Meet me at McDonald’s” among seven ‘unacceptable haircuts for boys".
This includes any variation of a Mohican, shaved parting lines, or hair that is teased to give it 'excessive' height.
Barry said that any boy not conforming to the dress code would be sent home or put in isolation, and he was happy to provide families a PowerPoint presentation of the acceptable styles.
He has the rules so that pupils "dress appropriately" and says: "Most pupils have hairstyles that are not extreme.
"We expect all pupils to meet this standard."
