A state banquet was held in Stockholm on Tuesday (October 12) in honour of the Dutch royal family’s visit to Sweden. Senior Swedish royals Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Sofia all accessorised their tiaras with their jewel-tone dresses for the occasion.
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden – The Napoleonic Amethyst Parure Tiara
For the outing in Sweden’s capital, Crown Princess Victoria wore a bold purple dress which cinched at the waist giving way to a flared skirt.
The heir to the Swedish throne wore a dress with a one-shoulder design adorned with a dramatic ruffle.
The shade of the dress perfectly matched her diadem, the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure Tiara.
According to the Court Jeweller, the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure Tiara started life as a necklace but it was converted to a tiara a few decades ago.
The parure also includes two bracelets, earrings and two brooches all featuring deep purple amethyst stones.
The Crown Princess has worn the tiara on several occasions, including at the wedding of Princess Martha Louise of Norway and Ari Behn in 2002.
She also often opts for the Baden Fringe Tiara and the Four Button Tiara from the Swedish royal collection.

Princess Sofia of Sweden – Wedding Tiara
For the state occasion on Tuesday, Princess Sofia wore a diamond and emerald tiara she has worn on several previous occasions.
The modest diadem was gifted to her by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia when she married their son Prince Carl Philip in 2015.
Sofia matched her emerald tiara, which is comprised of elegant spikes, to her deep green gown.
Queen Silvia of Sweden – Braganza Tiara
Queen Silvia, the wife of King Carl XVI Gustaf, donned the Braganza Tiara, a dramatic diadem she has often worn for state occasions.
A floral diamond diadem, the Braganza Tiara has links to Brazil and it was first owned by Princess Amelie of Leuchtenberg, wife of Emperor Pedro I.
Amelie left the tiara to her sister, Queen Josephine of Sweden, who was married to King Oscar I in the 19th Century.
Queen Maxima of the Netherlands – Stuart Tiara
Queen Maxima of the Netherlands also donned a tiara for the engagement in Stockholm this week.
Maxima also wore this piece in 2021 to a state banquet in Berlin which she attended with her husband King Willem-Alexander.
The Stuart Tiara is a historic Dutch jewel but it has historical links to the UK.
The Stuart Tiara boasts the incredible Stuart Diamond, which was acquired by King William II and Queen Mary who reigned over Britain in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
