Queen Máxima of The Netherlands, 52, has a piece of jewellery in her possession that she wears almost every day. A jewellery expert spoke to Express.co.uk to explain the significance behind the jewel.
Queen Máxima, who is originally from Argentina, married the King of The Netherlands in 2002.
Máxima met the future King Willem-Alexander in 1999 in Seville, Spain, during the Seville Spring Fair.
She now owns a beautiful £200,000 engagement ring that references the House of Orange-Nassau – the name of the Dutch Royal Family.
This piece of jewellery helped raise Máxima’s popularity in The Netherlands as it showed a willingness to honour her new country.
But Máxima’s engagement ring is not the only sentimental piece of jewellery she owns, nor is it something she wears every day.
There is a bracelet that Queen Máxima has worn almost every day since 2011.
To celebrate her birthday, fine jewellery experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have taken a close look at the piece.
Maxwell Stone, a Jewellery Expert, said: “Despite being born in Argentina, Queen Máxima won the hearts of the nation with her symbolic engagement ring.

“Though it’s not a piece of jewellery that she wears almost every day – she tends to pair it with an incredibly sentimental bracelet.
“Queen Máxima received the yellow gold chain bracelet from her husband and daughters for her 40th birthday in 2011.”
The style expert expanded on the jewels that feature inside the bracelet.
Maxwell added: “The touching piece is adorned with coloured cabochon gemstones in a rubber set style.”
According to Maxwell, each gemstone has a different hidden meaning and significance for Máxima.
He explained: “Each one refers to the month of birth of a family member, alongside an engraving of the corresponding name under the stone.”
The jewellery expert gave an estimated value for the bracelet, but it is not as high as her £200,000 engagement ring.
Maxwell claimed: “Though oozing with sentimental value, the bracelet doesn’t carry a particularly high monetary value.
“I’d estimate it to be worth £32,000.”
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands live in Huis Ten Bosch, a royal palace in The Hague, where they have lived since January 2019.
The couple have three children, Princess Catharina-Amalia, 19, Princess Alexia, 17, and Princess Ariane, 16.
Amalia, as the couple’s eldest daughter is known, is the current heir to the throne in The Netherlands.
