IT'S easy to get caught up in the festive fun but believe it or not, there is such thing as too much Christmas decor.
Sahar Saffari,an interior designer at Hi-Spec Design, said there are a few things to avoid if you want a stylish home, and too many of these things scream tacky.
"Decorating your home at Christmas can be such a lovely part of the festive season," she tells Fabulous.
"But whether you love to turn your home into a Santa’s Grotto each year or you are more of a minimalist decorator, if you need a steer in the right direction, there are a few decorations you should be careful with".
Too many winter candles, room scents and diffusers
We all love the cosy feeling of beautiful festive scents, but according to Sahar they might just be ruining your home.
"Yes, they may smell absolutely lovely but if all you can taste is pine wood mixed with mulled wine spices at every meal time it can become overpowering," she says.

Overdone or overused tinsel
Sahar says: "Too much tinsel is a common mistake people make when decorating. It’s best to use tinsel sparingly and keep it on the tree, for ease and for your walls!"
Hanging tinsel along the door frames using sellotape or blue tac is not only going to ruin the surface, but it’s also usually visible, she explains.

This instantly takes away from your decorations and "you’re going to spend most of December sticking it back up," Sahar says.
Too many clashing colours
If you want your Christmas decorations to look modern and professional, try not to use all colours of the rainbows, Sahar warns.
"If planned and styled correctly, an overly bright and colourful display can work, but in general, it is very easy to become overwhelming and end up taking us back to the 70s with a lot of clashing colours," she says.
But don't be afraid to have fun with it because you can still make it work – but there is a way to do it.
"I know a lot of people say not to mix silver and gold but this can work," she says.
" If you do want to experiment further than the traditional red and gold then pick a few different colours that complement each other, then add your glimpses of silver and gold to that."
But remember, don’t follow a colour scheme that' s simply 'in fashion’, especially if you don't really like it.
"You’re only going to hate it next year and have to start again anyway," Sahar warns.
At the end of the day, Christmas is a time for families and friends to get together, and although decorating the home is a part of the fun, you shouldn’t feel pressured to have the perfect Instagrammable Christmas tree or wreath.
